Actors, Directors sought by PDX Playwrights
PDX Playwrights will again present “the Festival Within the Festival” during Fertile Ground 2024, a fabulous array of new work. We will co-produce 13 shows by 14 playwrights April 16-21, as well as “Epic Shorts,” our popular ensemble juried show of six additional short works by six different playwrights.
This is a call for actors and directors on behalf of these playwrights. We need a range of women, men, and roles that could be assigned to any gender. A few playwrights need directors and stage managers. Many of these projects are staged readings, but they vary in scope and complexity; they have one, two, or three performances.
Actors: Please submit a resume and headshot (please, keep attachments’ total size under 1 MB) to:
and note in your subject line that you are submitting as an actor. If you have a link to a demo reel or a video sample of your work, please include it. Your submittal will be routed directly to those playwrights who are looking to cast for their shows.
Directors: Please submit a resume (no headshot needed) and note in your subject line that you are submitting as a director. You may also indicate you are submitting as a stage manager in the subject line.
Considerations such as payment, rehearsal locations and times, auditions, etc., will be established between individual playwrights and actors or directors. You may be contacted by one or more playwrights, or none. Because of the anticipated volume of submissions, we regret we will not be able to respond to everyone, but we thank you all in advance for your interest.
This casting call is in addition to (and distinct from) the notices you may see from individual playwrights as well as our “Epic Shorts” production team. You may respond to individual playwrights’ and directors’ posts in lieu of this general call.
