Actors, Directors sought by PDX Playwrights
PDX Playwrights will again host its “Festival within the Festival” during Fertile Ground 2019, a fabulous array of new work. We will co-produce 32 plays by 26 playwrights in January, including an ensemble juried show of eight shorts by eight different playwrights in “Daisy Dukes Shorts Night” as well as our famous six-play “Crazy Dukes Instant Play Festival”.
This is a call for actors and directors on behalf of these playwrights. We need a total of 37 female-identified actors, 29 male-identifying actors, up to 20 actors of any gender. A few playwrights need directors.
This is just a call for headshots and resumes, not an audition, although auditions most certainly will follow. PDXP is not conducting a general audition for all of these works. Instead, your submission will automatically be forwarded to our co-producing playwrights, who will then get in touch with actors and directors that meet their needs.
Actors: Please submit a resume and headshot (please, keep attachments’ total size under 1 MB) to:
- Attachments exceeding 1 MB may be rejected by our email system.
- Actors: Please include your name and the phrase “Fertile Ground 2020 Actor Submission” in the subject line.
- Directors: Please include your name and the phrase “Fertile Ground 2020 Director Submission” in the subject line. A headshot is not necessary for director submissions.
Your submittal will be routed directly to those playwrights who are looking to cast for their shows.
Considerations such as payment, rehearsal locations and times, auditions, etc., will be established between individual playwrights and actors or directors. You may be contacted by one or more playwrights, or none. Because of the anticipated volume of submissions, we regret we will not be able to respond to everyone, but we thank you all in advance for your interest.
This casting call is in addition to (and distinct from) the notices you may see from individual playwrights as well as our “Daisy Dukes Shorts Night” production team. You may respond to individual playwrights’ and directors’ posts in lieu of this general call.
